Cultural Leadership, the yearlong social justice program exploring in-depth Jewish and African-American history and culture, will hold three information sessions starting Feb. 8.
Students who are currently freshmen or sophomores in high school can apply for Cultural Leadership’s high school program, which includes a three-week trip visiting important cultural and historical sites in 15 cities and meeting with important national civil rights leaders.
Participants in the high school program also attend monthly meetings and three weekend-long retreats, learn leadership and facilitation skills. Students also participate in a school swap to witness education inequity, and a holiday swap to learn about other cultures and religions.
Apply for the High School Program online at CulturalLeadership.org or email [email protected] for a hard copy of the application form. Applicants are encouraged to attend one of three information sessions:
• Feb. 8: 6:30 p.m. at Congregation B’nai Amoona.
• Feb. 20: 6:30 p.m. at University City High School.
• March, date TBD, at Faith Miracle Temple Church in North County.
For students not yet in high school, there is also Camp Cultural Leadership, a three-week summer camp for middle school students. At the end of camp session, campers take a weekend trip to either Nashville or Chicago to complement the educational experience. To register for Camp Cultural Leadership, email [email protected].
