Crown Center plans Hanukkah events

Crown Center welcomes the community to celebrate Hanukkah. All programs are held at Crown Center, 8350 Delcrest Drive in University City. For more information, contact Haley Organ at 991 2055.

• Hanukkah Candle Lighting: 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1-8 in the dining room (lighting on Dec. 3, 4 and 5 will be at the Link Desk). Feel free to bring your own menorah and candles to light.

• Great Latke Debate: 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2 in the Dining Room. Settle the age -old question once and for all: which is the better topping for latkes, applesauce or sour cream? This event is part of the regular dining program. Reservations are required. Suggested donation is $3.

• Songs from Stage & Shtetl: 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2 in the Weinberg Lounge; Pianist Bill Long and soloist Bethany Barr perform klezmer music. Songs will include both English and Yiddish favorites.

• Torah Nuggets: 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3 and 10 in the Weinberg Lounge; Rabbi Elizabeth Hersh shares her insights into the weekly Torah portion.

• BSKI Kabbalat Shabbat Services: 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3 in the Weinberg Lounge; friends from BSKI lead us in a service welcoming Shabbat.

• Hanukkah Program with Rabbi Shmuel Greenwald: 2:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6 in the Weinberg Lounge; Rabbi Shmuel Greenwald leads a discussion on the true meaning of Hanukkah.

• Historical Overview of the Second Temple Period: 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7 and Dec. 14 in the Weinberg Lounge; Rabbi Max Weiman continues his lecture series with a discussion on the Second Temple Period.

• Hanukkah Dinner & Celebration: 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7

in the dining room; Crown Center Board, Staff, and friends will gather for a Hanukkah dinner and celebration, including dreidels, gelt and music. This event is part of the regular dining program. Reservations are required. Suggested donation is $3.

• Hanukkah Dinner with Shaare Emeth: 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8 in the dining room; Celebrate Hanukkah with our friends from Shaare Emeth. This event is part of the regular dining program. Reservations are required. Suggested donation is $3.

• St. Louis Jewish Women’s Choir: 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14 in the Weinberg Lounge. The St. Louis Jewish Women’s choir performs Yiddish, English, and Hebrew favorites.
