Covenant House plans ‘Senior Prom’

Robert A. Cohn, Editor-in-Chief Emeritus

Decorations, mirror ball lighting, delicious treats, music, dancing, party photos — everything you would expect to find at any area high school senior prom. However, this prom is for seniors age 60+.

From 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, June 3 Covenant House Apartments is sponsoring a night for seniors take a walk down memory lane at “Spring Fling Senior Prom.”

Community volunteers and senior residents have been making decorations and planning the baking and festivities. A Model-A Ford is being delivered as a backdrop for party photos. Young professionals from the St. Louis Jewish Federation’s YPD group will be on hand as dance partners for the attendees. A group of volunteers from Congregation Shaare Emeth is providing makeovers and manicures to pamper the residents as they prepare for their special evening. Robert Cohn, Editor-in-Chief Emeritus of the Jewish Light will be serving as “Honorary Prom King.”

“We want to create an evening for area seniors to dress up, enjoy the festivities, and receive some very special attention. You don’t need a date for this prom, just a desire to go out and have some fun,” said Covenant House Executive Director Joan Denison.

Covenant House is located at 10 Millstone Campus Drive in Creve Coeur. The fee for the program is $6 for non-residents and $4 for residents. All are welcome. For questions or to RSVP, call 314-432-1610.
