Congregation Shaare Emeth to honor Greens with community service award

Congregation Shaare Emeth will honor Nancy and Randy Green at its annual Heart & Soul Gala on Saturday, Nov. 16at the Four Seasons Hotel, located at 999 N. 2nd Street in downtown St. Louis.   Inspiring Generations is this year’s theme for the event, which will support the congregation’s mission of education, spiritual practice, social justice and outreach.   

The 2013 “Heart & Soul” Gala Honorees, Nancy and Randy Green, will be presented with the third annual Harris Frank Community Service Award, which was established to honor those who inspire lives and change the community we live in.

The Greens support many national and local organizations, with a special focus on the Jewish community and they believe that today it is critical to engage young adults and adopt new approaches that deliver a mix of experiences, programs, tools and technologies to help instill in our young people the importance of Jewish values. 

The Greens’ vision and concern for the future of the Jewish community has led to important planning and funding, in partnership with Jewish Federation of St. Louis, of several programs including the Crown Jewish Family Education Grants, funded by the Gladys K. Crown Foundation – of which Randy Green is a trustee. The Crown Grants and Shaare Emeth Shirlee Green Preschool honor the memory of Randy’s mother.

“We are humbled and honored to receive this prestigious award,” commented Randy Green. “We have an unwavering commitment to our community, and we are pleased to be a part of such a wonderful congregation and an amazing event,” added Nancy Green.

The 2013 “Heart & Soul” Gala event will take place from 6-10 p.m. and includes a cocktail reception and a sit-down dinner along with an award presentation by Rabbi Jim Bennett. Gala Co-Chairs are Karen and Mark Zorensky and Richard Brickson.

Tickets are $200 per person or $2,000 for a table of 10. Sponsorships at varying levels are also available for interested individuals and corporations.
