Concert continues UH’s year of 175th anniversary events

United Hebrew Congregation continues its yearlong 175th anniversary celebration with a full slate of events scheduled through August.

Honoring the long musical tradition at UH, Cantor Ronald D. Eichaker and Cantor Emeritus Murray W. Hochberg will lead a Cantorial Concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 23 in the Millstone Sanctuary at UH, 13788 Conway Road in Chesterfield.

They will be joined on vocals by Cantor Arik Luck of Beth Emet-The Free Synagogue in Evanston, Ill., and Cantor Deborah Martin of Temple Beth El in Madison, Wis.  Accompaniment will be provided by David Cohen, UH Organist and Assistant Musical Director.Members of the Adult Choir will also participate in the concert.

Representing three generations of cantors, Eichaker has served UH for more than 13 years, while Hochberg served the congregation from 1967 through 1999, when he became emeritus. Luck and Martin are former students of Eichaker when he served a Milwaukee congregation in the 1990s.

The concert is free and open to the community, funded by the Helen C. Millstone Music Fund at United Hebrew.  A dessert reception will follow the concert.

• Shabbat service and Kiddush luncheon in honor of Eichaker’s “bar mitzvah” anniversary at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 6.

• “UH in St. Louis History” Bus Tour on Sunday, May 5

• Shabbat service and closing picnic on Friday, August 23 at the Chesterfield Amphitheater

• 175th Anniversary Golf Tournament at Persimmon Woods Golf Club on Monday, August 26.

All 175th anniversary events are open to the community.
