Community welcome to meeting on Jewish Community Day High School
Published October 16, 2007
For many in St. Louis, the day school landscape is currently incomplete without the existence of a Jewish Community High School. Such a school, in addition to providing outstanding secular and Jewish education would serve our community by helping to attract and retain quality Jewish and lay leadership.
A board is working to bring a Jewish community high school to St. Louis. They will share their progress at a community meeting on Sunday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. at the Jewish Federation. At that meeting the community will hear Dr. Bruce Powell, PEJE coach and the current head of school for the New Community Jewish High School in Los Angeles. Powell will speak about the transformational nature a Jewish day high school will have in St. Louis and the development and future of our children, so that Saint Louis can realize its potential to create the kind of outstanding graduates that Rabbi Josh Elkin speaks of (see adjoining article).
