The exhibit, “Combat Camera: US Army Signal Corps Images from WWII,” will open at the Jewish Federation of St. Louis on April 2. A special opening program will be held at 1 p.m. at the building, located at 12 Millstone Campus Drive. Reception to follow; dietary laws observed.

While many people are familiar with the communications function of the US Army Signal Corps in World War II, fewer are aware of the role they played in recording the action through films and still photographs. This exhibit highlights the role of the still photographers in Europe who captured the images we see about the war; photographs that were used for training, strategic planning and analysis, public information, and to capture the historical record. Military editors and censors also played a role in what was seen by both troops and the public.
