Chabad organizes traveling Shofar Corps for shut-ins

A corps of trained shofar blowing volunteers will visit individuals who for reasons of their limited mobility will be unable to attend services and hear the requisite sounding of the shofar on the Rosh Hashanah holiday, which this year falls on Sept. 14 and 15. Those who would directly benefit from this project would include the disabled, the elderly and other institutionalized shut-ins.

Requests for the Shofar Corps visit on Rosh Hashanah should be made directly to Chabad well in advance of the holiday. Similarly, experienced shofar blowers wishing to volunteer to visit shut-ins are asked to contact Chabad at [email protected] or by calling 314-725-0400. Requests will be accommodated based on the availability of volunteers.

This project is coordinated by Chabad of Greater St. Louis, in partnership with its affiliates, Chabad of Chesterfield and Chabad on Campus, which will coordinate the Shofar Corps in their respective areas.
