Chabad Chesterfield Hebrew school is launching a monthly family program this fall, offering hands-on, interactive Jewish learning experiences that bring traditions like shofar making and matzah baking to life for kids and parents alike.
Beginning Sept. 21, families can join once a month on Sundays from 4 to 5:30 p.m. for engaging, experience-based Jewish learning such as a shofar factory and honey workshop, a model matzah bakery and more. Each session will feature interactive lessons that make Jewish history, values and traditions come alive.
The first session will be a hands-on workshop, with participants crafting their own shofars for Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year.

With a minimal time investment and a huge impact, this program is perfect for busy families who want to give their children meaningful Jewish experiences without overloading their schedules.
The program is open to children ages 3–11 and their families—and no synagogue membership is required. Every session is designed for the whole family to enjoy together, making it a warm and welcoming way to connect with Jewish life, meet other families and create lasting memories.
“In today’s climate, the antidote to antisemitism isn’t only fighting against it—it’s building strong Jewish pride,” says Chanala Rubenfeld, co-director of Chabad of Chesterfield. “That pride is nurtured when children learn and live Judaism in a fun, meaningful and positive way. By making it hands-on and interactive, children aren’t just learning about Judaism—they’re living it.”
Registration is currently underway at JewishChesterfield.com/family. For more information, call 636-778-4000 or email [email protected].

Starting this month, as part of the Jewish Women’s Circle, Chabad of Chesterfield is also offering a bat mitzvah milestone course for adults. Classes will be held on Wednesday evenings, meeting monthly, through May. The course will culminate with a special ceremony to celebrate this milestone and accomplishment together with family and friends.
Throughout the year-long course, the topics and discussions will cover the basic tenets of Judaism and the special role that Jewish women play throughout history as well as today. Participants will have the opportunity to uncover the essential change that occurs on the day they become a bat mitzvah and understand how it impacts them each and every day of their lives, going forward.
The course will be led and instructed by Chanala Rubenfeld, co-director of Chabad of Chesterfield.
The cost for the yearly course is $360. Due to the nature of the course, spaces will be limited, on a first come- first served basis. For more information and to register please visit: bit.ly/batmitzvahmilestone.
