Central Reform, Missouri Highway Patrol among Anti-Defamation League honorees

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) will present Community Tributes: With A Little Help From Our Friends, to recognize those with whom the organization accomplishes its grassroots advocacy and education.
Missouri State Highway Patrol, Bryan Cave LLP, Central Reform Congregation and Rhoda Kahn Nussbaum and Bonnie Vickar will be honored during the tribute event at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17 at Palladium Saint Louis, 1400 Park Place, off Lafayette Square. The cocktail and dinner event will be hosted by Don Marsh of KWMU-FM.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol will receive the Distinguished Service Award for its commitment to working with ADL in fighting bias, bigotry and hatred, challenging white supremacy and organized hate.
Bryan Cave, LLP will receive the Torch of Liberty for its pro bono work on briefs filed in the Missouri Court of Appeals and Missouri Supreme Court on “the case of the anti-Semitic jury,” helping make new law relating to juror bias and the ability of judges to determine whether bias during jury deliberations prohibits a party from receiving a fair trial.
Central Reform Congregation will receive the Distinguished Community Service Award for its support over the last 13 years to the U.S. Attorneys Hate Crimes Task Force. Without CRC’s commitment to the group, providing a place to meet and accomplish its work, the Task Force would not be the community building force that it has become, unique in the country on hate crime and bias incidents.
Rhoda Kahn Nussbaum and Bonnie Vickar, long-time members of ADL’s Regional Advisory Board, will be honored for their work as educators, both through the ADL’s award-winning anti-bias education program, the A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE® Institute and through Confronting Anti-Semitism, an awareness program for Jewish teens and their families.
Honorary chairs of the event are Senators John Danforth and Jean Carnahan, Police Chiefs Dan Isom and Tim Fitch and Rabbi Susan Talve.
