Love to write? Want to meet other creative Jewish teens? Have something to say about Jewish identity, high school life, current events, or pop culture? Then Ohr Chadash, the St. Louis Jewish Light’s teen page, is calling your name.
Ohr Chadash (Hebrew for “new light”) offers more than just a byline. It’s a community of Jewish teens from across the St. Louis area who come together throughout the school year to write, reflect, report—and connect. Whether you’re an aspiring journalist, a passionate storyteller, or someone with a unique perspective to share, this is your chance to be heard.
Writing for Ohr Chadash helps sharpen your skills, gives you real-world experience and yes, looks great on college applications. Even more, it’s fun. Past teen writers have formed lasting friendships, discovered new interests and found their voices as Jewish leaders.
Interested in learning more? Join us for a kickoff retreat at the Jewish Light office in University City on Sunday, Sept. 14, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The retreat includes lunch, workshops designed to build interviewing, writing and digital skills, and a chance to meet other teens considering joining the team. A donation of $10 is suggested.
So if you’re in high school (grades 9-12) and ready to make your mark, come be part of something meaningful. Let your words shine a little light.
