CAJE, HMLC plan March of the Living trip

For the first time, Central Agency for Jewish Education and the Holocaust Museum and Learning Center are coordinating a multigenerational group from St. Louis to participate in the 2013 International March of the Living Program.

The March of the Living trip provides a unique experience to bear witness to the destruction of the Holocaust during visits to Poland and Israel over April 3-17, 2013; the trip is open to adults, young adults, and teens in grades 10-12.

Informational meetings about the trip will take place at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 30 and 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012 at the Jewish Federation Kopolow Building.

The March of the Living group will travel to Poland for a week to learn about and honor the Jewish community of the past and connect with Poland’s Jewish community of today. The group will commemorate Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day) by joining thousands of participants from over 60 countries in an emotional two-mile march from Auschwitz to Birkenau. The journey continues for another week as the group experiences modern-day Israel.  In addition to touring, the group will observe Yom HaZikaron (Israel Memorial Day) and celebrate Yom Ha’Atzmaut (Israel’s Independence Day).

Trip coordinators are Andrew Goldfeder, Maxine Weil and Karen Rader.
