Brodsky Library offers Jewish genealogical workshop series

The Saul Brodsky Jewish Community Library, in partnership with the St. Louis Genealogical Society-Jewish Special Interest Group and Special Collections of the St. Louis County Library, will present a series of six genealogical workshops to help anyone interested in tracing their Jewish roots.

Four of the sessions will take place at the Jewish Federation Kopolow Building at 12 Millstone Campus Drive, with the others at the St. Louis Genealogical Society’s offices and the St. Louis County Library Headquarters. The first two sessions, at the Kopolow Building on March 27th and April 3rd, are on beginning Jewish genealogy. These classes will focus on how to get started, how to use pedigree charts & family group sheets as well as specific records like birth, death, marriage, censuses, etc.

The third session, April 12th, also at the Kopolow Building will discuss the types of genealogical records available at the County Library. Hands-on computer sessions (April 21 and April 28) will be at the Genealogical Society’s offices (4 Sunnen Drive #140) and the County Library respectively. Those sessions are limited to only 24 people because of the nature of the class.

The final session, May 5th, will be at the Brodsky Library and will introduce the holdings of the St. Louis Jewish Community Archives and the Brodsky Library that are of interest to genealogists.

All classes run from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. and are free of charge. Registration is required.
