Chai Circle looks at Jewish views on health, nutrition

The Jewish Women’s Chai Circle will hold a discussion on the Jewish views on health and nutrition on Sunday, July 15 at 7:30 p.m. Participants will receive expert advice on how to live a healthy and nutritious life from nutritionist Debbie Zorensky, owner of The Center for Mind, Body & Spirit Nutrition Counseling. Attendees will also be able to make and enjoy fresh squeezed juices and health shakes.

J Associates’ annual brunch takes place July 19

The J Associates will hold its annual Brunch, Boutique, and Bunches of Games at Meadowbrook Country Club on Thursday, July 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

More than 200 women will share in an afternoon of shopping, brunch, and games of mah-jongg, bridge, canasta and bunco. Vendors will offer gift items, jewelry, stationery, baby items, judaica, clothing and more. Proceeds from the event will be used to provide meals for senior adults, child care for infants and toddlers, recreational activities for people with disabilities, and other special scholarships and programs at the Jewish Community Center. Holocaust Museum holds film screening, discussion

Tisha B’Av (the 9th day of the Jewish month of Av), the traditional Jewish day of mourning, will be commemorated with the screening of Under Your Wing at the Holocaust Museum and Learning Center Theater at 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 24. The program, sponsored by the Holocaust Museum, is free and open to the public. The 39-minute film, about the journal of Moshe Flinker, focuses on the innermost feelings that he chronicled in a notebook while he was hiding in occupied Belgium during the Holocaust.

Rabbi Ze’ev Smason of Nusach Hari-B’nai Zion Congregation will lead a discussion after the screening. For more information, call 314-442-3714.

Israeli Caravan will perform at free Shaare Emeth event

The Tzofim Friendship Caravan will perform at Congregation Shaare Emeth on July 25, beginning at 7 p.m. The group of 16- and 17-year-old Israeli Boy and Girl Scouts will present a one-hour multimedia program of dance and song. The Scouts’ enthusiasm, energy and passion bring an exciting Israeli spirit to camp. The performance is free and open to the community.
