Breakfast event honors ‘Women’s Champions for Social Change’

St. Louis Ending Violence Against Women Network (SLEVAWN) is sponsoring an awards recognition breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17 at Wells Fargo Headquarters (corner of Jefferson and Market in downtown St. Louis) for Women’s Champions for social change in the community.
SLEVAWN is a coalition of community organizations supporting survivors of domestic violence. Breakfast sponsors include National Council of Jewish Women-St. Louis Section, MERS/Goodwill and Legal Services of Eastern Missouri. The following ‘Champions’ will be honored:
• Company with 25 or more employers — Scottrade
• Company with fewer than 25 employees — Franciscan Sisters of Mary, Sr. Rose Mary Dowling
• Individuals who have gone above and beyond to help domestic violence survivors — Alma Avdic-Bjedic, HR Manager, and Jasmina Junuzovic, HR Manager, The Doubletree Hotel, Union Station
• DV Agency Advocate — LaDonna Howard, Case Manager, and CJ Spencer, Primary Child Support Advocate, The Women’s Safe House
• Volunteer Advocate — Sarah Hellmann, Partner and Legal Clinic Leader, Husch Blackwell
