Congregation B’nai Amoona will host the “Israeli Festival of the Arts” art show and sale from Thursday, May 8 through Sunday, May 11. The exhibition features more than 1,500 original works of art created by more than 100 Israeli artists.

The art will be brought to B’nai Amoona by the Safrai Fine Art Gallery in Jerusalem. The owner and curator of the gallery, Menachem Safrai, will be on hand throughout the weekend to greet art enthusiasts and answer questions.

“We are very excited about bringing forward this wonderful art show for all to enjoy – not just our own congregants but the entire St. Louis community,” said Rabbi Carnie Shalom Rose at B’nai Amoona. “From what we understand, hundreds of people customarily flock to Safrai art shows – some to view and some to purchase. We hope many who attend will find a piece that they enjoy and will treasure forever.”

The exhibition is scheduled to feature works from renowned artists such as Marc Chagall, Yaacov Agam, Michael Eisenmann and Judith Yellin. Watercolors, serigraphs, oils and sculptures are among the types of artwork expected to be on display.

After a private viewing for synagogue benefactors and other patrons of the exhibition, the gala will open for the public at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The full schedule for the exhibition’s public viewing is as follows:

• Thursday, May 8 — 7:30 to 10 p.m.

• Friday, May 9 — 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

• Saturday, May 10— 8:30 to 11 p.m. (includes Havdalah at 8:30 p.m.)

• Sunday, May 11 — 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (and will be open during the synagogue’s annual Mother’s Day Brunch, hosted by the Men’s Club).
