B’nai Amoona, Kol Rinah plan scholar-in-residence weekend

Rabbi Daniel Nevins, the Pearl Resnick Dean of the Rabbinical School at Jewish Theological Seminary, will visit St. Louis Aug. 31 to Sept. 2  to serve as scholar-in-residence at  Congregation B’nai Amoona and Kol Rinah.  

Rabbi Daniel Nevins, Pearl Resnick Dean of the Rabbinical School at Jewish Theological Seminary, will visit St. Louis Aug. 31 to Sept. 2 for a weekend of learning at Congregation B’nai Amoona and Kol Rinah.

B’nai Amoona hosts Nevins at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31 for Kabbalat Shabbat followed by dinner. At 8 p.m. Nevins will discuss “From Conservative to Creative: Naming Our Values and Attaining Our Dreams.” RSVPs are requested for the Friday night dinner to 314-576-9990.

On Saturday, Sept. 1, B’nai Amoona will host Nevins for a discussion at 10:15 a.m. on “Coming into the Land: From Idealism to Realism and Back.” At 6 p.m., Nevins leads a Minchah and Ma’ariv and will discuss “Can Robots Become B’nai Mitzvah?” The talk will be followed with a pre-Selichot discussion at 8:30 p.m. on “Moral Injury, Spiritual Healing.” 

On Sunday, Sept. 2, Nevins will speak at 10 a.m. at Kol Rinah on “Sabbath Mode: Keeping Shabbat in the Digital Age.” For more information, call 314-727-1747.
