Bais Abraham plans Yeshivat Maharat Shabbaton

Two scholars-in-residence will be at Bais Abraham Congregation on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 16-17: Rabbi Jeffrey Fox, Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivat Maharat in New York City, joins Rachel Kohl Finegold, a graduate of Yeshivat Maharat and the Education and Ritual Director at Anshe Sholom B’nai Israel Congregation in Chicago, where she holds the Dr. Carol Fuchs Kaufman Rabbanit Chair. Yeshivat Maharat is the first institution to train Orthodox women as spiritual leaders and halakhic authorities.

Friday evening begins with “Shalom Shabbat” with Carlebach davening followed by dinner at the shul (RSVP required; $14 adults, $7children). The guest speakers will discuss “The Hallachic Process.”

On Saturday morning at Shabbat services Kohl Finegold will give the Dvar Torah. A lunch & learn will follow davening (lunch is complimentary) with a panel discussion on “Orthodox Women in Religious Leadership: Possibilities and Limitations.” Shabbat late afternoon will feature a communal Seudah Shelishit with Divrei Torah.
