‘Baby Shower’ to benefit Jewish food pantry

Women’s Connection of Jewish Federation is hosting its “Third Annual Shower” on Tuesday, April 5, at 7 p.m. in the Carl & Helene Mirowitz Performing Arts & Banquet Center in the new Arts & Education Building at the JCC, 2 Millstone Campus Drive. This year’s event is a “Baby Shower.”

Volunteers are invited to collect and donate to the Harvey Kornblum Jewish Food Pantry baby items such as diapers (small pull-up size), wipes, baby shampoo, diaper rash ointment and baby lotion. In addition, personal care items including soap, shampoo/conditioner, toothbrushes and toothpaste are also needed. Please, no toys or clothing.

New this year…volunteers will help make “no sew” fleece blankets for families served by the Food Pantry. Please bring a pair of sharp scissors for cutting the fabric.  Each blanket will be rolled up and tied with ribbon with a personal note attached.

While the women work hard to make a difference, they will be treated to dessert (dietary laws observed) and listen to speaker Stacy Siwak, Women’s Connection vice chair of Community Engagement.

Admission to the “Shower” is $12. Free raffle tickets will be handed out at check in and everyone will have a chance to win great prizes.

The leadership spearheading this effort includes Event Chairs: Toby Chod, Julie Sandler and Abbey Small. A committee of 23 women has signed on to assist them. Nancy Green and Betsy Rubenstein are Women’s Connection co-chairs.

For those who cannot attend but would like to donate baby or personal care items to the Food Pantry, drop them off at the Kopolow Building with Lynn Harris Gossen’s name on the bag.
