AJC to honor Zimmerman family with Netzach Award

AJC St. Louis will honor the Zimmerman family (Stuart and Susie, Jake and Megan, Andrew and Marya) during its 23rd Annual Netzach Award presentation Monday, June 9 at the Ritz Carlton in Clayton. A cocktail reception starts at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner and award presentation at 7 p.m.

Co-chairs of the event are Heschel and Adinah Raskas and Richard and Joyce Becker.

Growing up, Susie and Stuart Zimmerman’s families had an emphasis on community service — something they have passed on to their children. According to AJC, the family epitomizes what the organization’s Netzach Award is all about: a commitment to social justice, civic duty, education and Israel.

Stuart is a founder of the Buckingham Family of Financial Services. Previously, he was a partner of RubinBrown LLP, a 300-plus person CPA firm. He has a long history of civic engagement, including serving as president of the AJC’s St. Louis Regional Office, the Clayton Chamber of Commerce, the Clayton Child Center and Craft Alliance. He has served on numerous boards, including the Jewish Federation of St. Louis, the Arts & Education Council and Crown Center.

Susie has long been involved in community activities. After marrying Stuart in 1967, she was at the forefront of the St. Louis NOW chapter, advanced egalitarian rights at Congregation B’nai Amoona and chaired its educational board. She was a member of Jewish Hospital’s Women’s Auxiliary board and a chair of the Jewish Federation’s partnership with St. Louis’ sister-city region in Israel, Yokneam-Megiddo. She also serves on the editorial committee of the Jewish Light.

Jake served as Assistant Attorney General as well as Deputy Chief Legal Counsel for Governor Bob Holden. He was elected to three terms as state representative and elected St. Louis County Assessor in 2011. He is also involved in several charitable organizations. Megan is Planning Director at Crown Center, on the junior board at COCA and is participating in Leadership St. Louis.

Andrew and Marya live in Seattle with their two sons, Micah and Oliver. Andrew is a real estate broker and property consultant and Marya is a firefighter with the Tacoma fire department. She and Andrew are involved in many local community service and not-for-profit organizations.

Individual tickets to the dinner are $250, with several sponsorship levels available. For more information or to RSVP, call 314-721-8866. Dietary laws observed.
