Agudas Israel plans Feb. 25 gala

Agudas Israel of St. Louis will honor Rabbi Mordecai and Zipporah Yaroslawitz during its annual gala dinner Sunday, Feb. 25 at the Clayton Plaza Hotel, 7750 Carondelet Ave. in Clayton. The couple has been associated with Agudas Israel of St. Louis for more than 30 years.

The Yaris, as they are known to many, moved to St. Louis in 1987. Rabbi Yaroslawitz studied for 10 years in Talmudic institutions including the Mirrer Yeshiva in Brooklyn, Yeshiva Emek Halacha and the St. Louis Rabbinical College. After several years of teaching Talmud at the St. Louis Yeshiva, he joined the St. Louis Kollel at its founding in 1991. 

In 1993, he founded Kulanu Yachad, an organization that aims “to harness the beauty and majesty of yiddishkeit to inspire Jews of all backgrounds.” The organization has been recognized internationally for its work to enhance the Jewish life of students and families. 

Rabbi Yaroslawitz is well known for more than 40 years in Torah education and Jewish camping, and as a speaker in schools and shuls in St. Louis and beyond. 

Tzipporah Yaroslawitz has been involved in Jewish education for more than 30 years and has been teaching Torah Prep’s pre-K children since 1991.  

Tickets to the gala are $125, with various sponsorship levels available. An advertising journal is being published to commemorate this event, and proceeds will be used to help fund community activities and services provided by Agudas Israel of St. Louis during the year.
