ADL Heartland has announced the newest recipients of the Meyer and Marcelle Kranzberg Memorial Scholarships. They are Michael Siler from Parkway North High School, Noa Hahn from Ladue Horton Watkins High School and Hale Masaki from Ladue Horton Watkins High School. Each student will receive a $2,000 education scholarship. Finalists in the process included Sarah Friedman, Danielle Goldberg, Amalia Newman, Joshua Thomeczek, Samuel Toskin and Sophia Yampol.

The selection process is interactive and highlights current issues on the ADL agenda. Nominees were asked to reflect quickly on topics such as responding to anti-Semitism, thoughts on leadership and matters in the news. Nominees submitted essays as part of the application process and responded to questions on those essays from selection committee members.

“It was so inspiring to hear and speak to all of the students who applied for the Kranzberg Scholarship,” said Adinah Raskas, who chaired the selection committee. “Each one of them understood all the different challenges they will be facing in the coming years. Each one was qualified, and it was a difficult choice.”

Ken Kranzberg, a member of ADL’s National Executive Committee, established the scholarship 21 years ago in his parents’ memory. Members of the Selection Committee who joined Raskas included ADL Education Chair Rhoda Kahn Nussbaum and members Rhiannon Kaye and Michele Kopolow.
