A thank-you note for ‘flood’ of support

It’s normal to expect what’s normal. So you, our readers, wouldn’t be surprised to receive and read the print edition of the Light this week as you do every other week. But when a pipe burst under our space in the wee hours of Monday morning, causing almost two inches of water to sit atop the entire Light office space, we were concerned that we couldn’t fulfill our commitment to the community.

Thanks to the tremendous work of Light staff, the tireless commitment of Covenant Place, and an exceptional group of consultants and contractors, we were able to maintain our publishing schedule while simultaneously focusing on the massive repair and restoration effort that will take us weeks upon weeks to complete.  Our web and mobile platforms also continue to be fully up and running.

We thank not only Covenant but other agencies such as Jewish Federation, the Jewish Community Center and Jewish Community Relations Council, which offered assistance and support through the early stages of our restoration. And a special callout to the Light’s Board of Trustees, which has partnered with staff to create best practice policies and procedures for handling emergencies of this nature.

For those calling or otherwise contacting the Light as we work from temporary space, we thank you for your patience and consideration as we restore normal operations.  As always, feel free to call 314-743-3660 or 314-743-3600, or write us at [email protected]
