In August 2016, when Rabbi Carne Rose was giving the eulogy for Manuel “Manny” Friedman, the grandchildren and great grandchildren were spreading packages of dirt from Jerusalem on the grave. Rose suggested that a tree should be planted in PaPa’s honor. The thought stayed with the family. On May 15, 2017, the family and friends gathered at son, Kerry (Debbie) Friedman’s property in Dittmer, MO. and planted Manny’s favorite tree, an Evergreen Magnolia. All “dug-in” and planted the tree. Bubbe, “Mille” Friedman also shoveled some dirt.  As a final treat, some pineapple upside down cake, yes Papa’s favorite, was planted with the tree.
