Julius Berman, chairman of the Claims Conference, said alleged fraud at the Claims Conference amounted to  ‘phony evidence’ provided for claims of eligibility for Holocaust compensation. The fraud lasted for about a decade-and-a-half and allegedly deprived Holocaust survivors of more than $57 million.
