THROWBACK THURSDAY • The Jewish Federation of St. Louis provided cash payments in 1978 to the United Jewish Appeal, the umbrella agency for needy Jews in Israel and other nations.  In the picture (from left) are Sam Shaikewitz, associate chairman of the Federation’s Cash Mobilization Committee, presenting a check for $300,000 to Paul Rosenberg, UJA chairman for “Operation Pony Express.”
