LOOKING BACK • Beginning in April 1933, German Jews requiring immediate aid came to this office and to other bureaus of the Zentral-Ausschuss, the Central Committee for Help and Reconstruction organized and maintained with assistance from JDC as part of its relief efforts for German Jewry. Thousands were helped to emigrate and thousands more were prepared for emigration through programs of vocational and agricultural re-training in Germany and in other Western European countries.
