Interfaith Chapel

LOOKING BACK • Groundbreaking ceremonies were held in 1977 at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery for a nonsectarian chapel as a memorial for local men and women who served in all American wars, who are buried there. The chapel was approved by the Veterans Administration, and local participants in the ceremony include (from left) Joe Koslow, Jewish War Veterans representative on the Jefferson Barracks Chapel Committee; Octavia Haas, president, American Gold Star Mothers; Mrs. Peter S. Miravelle, war widow; Peter Miravelle, Jr., committee member; Elaine Gladstone, Gold Star wife; and Carl T. Noll, deputy administrator, Veterans Administrator. The chapel was completed in 1978.
