St. Louis Emerging Designer Competition

When:  7-11 p.m.  Wednesday, Oct.  15

Where:  Union Station, 1820 Market Street

What: The top six designers have been chosen by the St.  Louis Fashion Fund panel, a group of editors, buyers and marketing professionals.  These finalists will present their collections, and one designer will be selected by our an expert judging panel, led by New York Fashion Week creator, Fern Mallis, to receive an award of $15,000.  Attendees will enjoy an interactive cocktail party.

The Yigal Azrouël, Tess Giberson, Timo Weiland Runway Shows + 

When:  6-11 p.m.  Thursday, Oct.  16

Where: Union Station 1820 Market Street

What:  Saint Rita Parlor Fashion Presentation will showcase top national design talent, including Israeli designer Yigal Azrouël, which will provide St.  Louis fashion enthusiasts and professionals with an exclusive opportunity to live the “New York Fashion Experience.” Guests will enjoy a cocktail reception.

‘The Pathology of Glamour’ 

When:  5-8 p.m.  Friday, Oct.  17

Where:  William Shearburn Gallery, 665 S.  Skinker Boulevard 

What:  Opening to benefit to the St.  Louis Fashion Fund features “The Pathology of Glamour,” a showing of fashion portraiture.

St. Louis Fashion Week’s Midwest Fashion Conference

When:  9 a.m.-4 p.m.  Saturday, Oct.  18

Where:  Steinberg Auditorium at the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Art

 at Washington University 

What:  The conference is devoted to a discussion about fashion across multiple platforms and will probe at the realities of what it means to support a fashion industry in our community.  Is St.  Louis ready to resuscitate a fashion industry? What are the barriers we need to overcome? The afternoon presents two tracks of concurrent sessions, one focused on career development for emerging and mid-career professionals: designers, stylists, art directors, writers, marketers.  The second track is organized around several artist talks and lectures by faculty at the Sam Fox School of Design.

How much:  $50-$75, includes breakfast and lunch
