It seems as if hardly a month goes by without N&S receiving a notice of still another budding Steven Spielberg in our midst. So for all of you would-be filmmakers, mark this Friday, Sept. 24 on your calendars for the 4th annual Film Racing Tour (www.filmracing.com). This competition filmmakers of all levels of experience to test their skills by creating an original short film in just 24 hours. The 2010 tour will be visiting over 20 cities across North America and gives aspiring filmmakers the chance to have their work screened in theaters across the country and compete for thousands in cash and prizes.

In the St. Louis Film Race, filmmaking teams are e-mailed a theme (such as revenge or greed) and surprise element (such as a prop or an action that must be performed in the film) at 10 p.m. Friday. The filmmakers then have 24 hours to create an original short film no longer than four minutes and submit their finished film at a designated drop-off location by the 120 p.m. deadline the next evening. All of the completed films premiere for the public at the Tivoli Theatre on Sept. 29th and the top films from St. Louis will compete for thousands in cash and prizes against winning films from across North America.

The entry fee is $119 per team until the Final Entry Deadline of Sept. 22. Visit the official competition website at www.filmracing.com to register, learn more and watch winning films from past races. Interested teams can also enter the discount code “FILMRACER” to receive $10 off the entry fee.
