LOOKING BACK • Employees of El Al, the national airline of Israel, block the entrance of Tel Aviv airport terminal in 1982, to prevent ultra-Orthodox passengers from entering.  They were protesting the government’s decision banning airline flying on Saturdays–the Jewish Sabbath.  The ruling took effect in September of 1982 following pressure on parliament by religious extremists.
