Clergy protest

On July 19, clergy from various faiths rallied against the family separation policy implemented by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency known as ICE. Clergy, including Rabbi Susan Talve of Central Reform Congregation (in middle with red scarf), spoke on the front steps of the Eagleton Federal Court House about serious concerns clergy and immigration activists have regarding the negative impacts of family separation. Attendees then marched to the Robert A. Young Federal Office Building on Spruce Street, which is where ICE has its St. Louis headquarters. A group of more than 20 clergy from various faith communities sat in the offices and sang protest theme songs. Clergy protesting were all arrested and released after receiving $500 tickets each. The rally continued outside the Young Building until all clergy were released. Photos: Philip Deitch
