Israel vowed a global pursuit of Hamas leaders and to accelerate construction of its West Bank barrier after the deadliest Palestinian attack in nearly a year. A double suicide bombing in the southern Israeli city of Beersheva, claimed by the radical Palestinian militant group Hamas, left 16 people dead, aside from the bombers, and more than 80 wounded on 31 August 2004.
