In a bold move to tackle the rising tide of antisemitism and provide much-needed support to interfaith families, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and 18Doors have forged a groundbreaking partnership. The collaboration aims to arm interfaith couples and families with resources to navigate discussions about antisemitism and its impact.
The partnership, announced today in New York City, comes at a critical juncture as antisemitic incidents continue to surge. According to preliminary data released by the ADL, there were a staggering 3,291 incidents reported between October 7 and January 7, marking a 361 percent increase compared to the previous year. These alarming statistics underscore the urgent need for proactive measures to address and counteract antisemitism.
“Amidst the alarming rise in antisemitic incidents, it’s imperative that we equip individuals and families with the necessary tools to confront and combat hatred,” remarked Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO of the ADL. “Our collaboration with 18Doors will empower interfaith couples and families to engage in constructive dialogue about antisemitism, thereby addressing this pervasive issue on a familial level.”
Recognizing the unique challenges faced by those in interfaith relationships, ADL and 18Doors will develop resources tailored to their specific needs. These resources will not only facilitate discussions on antisemitism but also provide guidance for grandparents seeking to broach the topic within interfaith families.
Jodi Bromberg, CEO of 18Doors, emphasized the importance of supporting interfaith couples amidst the current climate of heightened antisemitism. “For Jews in interfaith relationships, navigating conversations about antisemitism can be particularly challenging. Our partnership with ADL will offer vital support and guidance to these couples as they navigate this complex issue together,” Bromberg stated.
With antisemitism casting a long shadow over communities worldwide, the alliance between ADL and 18Doors represents a proactive step towards fostering understanding, unity, and resilience within interfaith families. As the two organizations join forces, their collective efforts aim to confront bigotry head-on and create a more inclusive and compassionate society for all.
