Jewish War Veterans chapter seeks scholarship applicants

The Jewish War Veterans recently awarded its Chuck Sandroff Memorial Scholarship to Isabella Neuman. From left are JWV Quartermaster Larry Chevritz, Craig Neuman, Isabella Neuman, JWV Post 644 Commander Dennis Cohen, and Betsy Enger, the widow of Chuck Sandroff. Isabella, a senior at Parkway Central High School, received a $500 scholarship. Isabella’s Grandfather, Leon Gross, served in WWII in the Luzon Campaign, earning the Bronze Star Medal. Isabella is a member of the National Honor Society and she is active in the youth program at B’nai Amoona. She plans to study architecture in college.

Post 644 of the St. Louis Chapter of the Jewish War Veterans is offering a $1,000 Chuck Sandroff Scholarship to high school seniors graduating from an accredited program and planning to enter a college- level or vocational training program in the fall. 

The student applying should be Jewish and related to a Jewish veteran of any branch of the military. 

The application should include a short essay explaining why the student is seeking the award. It should include scholastic record, volunteering efforts in school and the community, and a short narrative about how the related veteran influenced the applicant’s life.
