Sam Lagoy United Hebrew Congregation

For his bar mitzvah project, Sam Lagoy (center) raised $2,300 for the Cancer Support Community of Greater St. Louis during its annual Cancer Survivorship Walk.

Participating for the second year in the Cancer Support Community’s Annual Cancer Survivorship Walk was very meaningful to Sam. His mother is a breast cancer survivor.

Son of Corinne and Tim Lagoy of Wildwood, Sam wanted to raise money for this organization because of the support and encouragement it provided his mother.  Through e-mails, followed up with phone calls to family and friends, Sam raised $2,300.  His mother and brother joined in him in the walk.

“The center helped my mom so much,” said Sam, a student at Rockwood Valley Middle School. “She took yoga classes, cooking and nutrition classes, meditation sessions, and participated in a 12-week Cancer Transitions program. Going there for support made my mom happier.”  Sam is planning on walking again next May.
