WashU Hillel has enhanced the lives of thousands of college students throughout St. Louis and helped Washington University cultivate one of the most vibrant campus Jewish communities in the country.
We seek to empower and support each student along their own unique Jewish path. We offer both broad and tailored opportunities in the areas of social justice and service, Israel engagement, religious life, learning, leadership and social programs. We are the only organization that fosters Jewish pluralism on campus.
Some students delve into an array of Hillel offerings, while others enjoy a specific Hillel student group or class, participate on a Birthright Israel trip, and/or take advantage of our DIY program, getting together with friends for their own Shabbat dinner, Passover Seder, or other Jewish experience. We are here to help each student “do Jewish” in whatever ways are most meaningful to them.
Our Hillel currently serves approximately 1,750 Jewish undergraduates attending Washington University. We engage over 1,000 of these students in Jewish campus life. Students from other universities in the St. Louis region enjoy our programming as well.
We’ve also taken hundreds of students to Israel — our trips are open to all undergraduates in or from the St. Louis area and their friends aged 18-22. Our next trip is Dec. 24, 2018 to Jan. 4, 2019, and our summer trip will depart in May 2019. More information about our Birthright Israel program can be found at washubirthright.com.
WashU Hillel is a beneficiary agency of the Jewish Federation of St. Louis and is affiliated with Hillel International, connecting our organization to a vast network of Jewish college students throughout the world.
