Fredmans celebrate 65th anniversary

Herbert and Shirley Fredman

Herbert and Shirley Fredman were introduced to each other by family and friends of family more than 65 years ago.

They married Aug. 5, 1952, celebrating their honeymoon in Niagara Falls. Soon thereafter Herbert went into the United States Army as a chaplain. The young couple moved to Fort Riley in Kansas. From there, Lt. Rabbi Herbert filmed his departure by ship past Alcatraz to Japan.

Shirley began a career as a great wife and mom finding time to be a leading actress in Jewish Community Center theatrical productions and being a founding member of the New Jewish Theatre.

Currently, they reside at Provision Living-West County. The couple has three children: Sander (Joyce), Ronnie (Donna) and Barry (Marie). Herb and Shirley have three grandchildren: Clara, Grace and Binyamin.
