Cohens celebrate 60th anniversary

It was Sunday, Dec. 1, 1957 when Anita Seligman, daughter of Dr. Meyer and Evelyn Seligman of Toledo, Ohio, married Stanley Neal Cohen, son of Jake and Cecile Cohen of St. Louis.

Anita, a graduate of Ohio State University’s School of Dental Hygiene, met Stanley through a college roommate — on a blind date. Stanley worked in the family wine business and later became president and owner of Garco Wine Company. Stanley owned Garco for more than 25 years.

Stanley and Anita became parents of two sons, Mark (Karen) and Michael (Sandra) and soon became grandparents of six: Marissa, Daniel, Bryce, Kayleigh, Ross and Clark.

Now, the couple is celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. To mark the date, Anita and Stanley will be blessed by two rabbis, Brigitte Rosenberg and Howard Kaplansky of United Hebrew Congregation, in a simple but meaningful celebration with family and friends in attendance.

Yes, on occasions, blind dates do work out.
