Founded nationally in 1940, AFMDA is an authorized tax-exempt organization and the sole support arm in the United States of Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel’s official emergency medical service. Magen David Adom provides a rapid and skilled emergency medical response, including disaster, ambulance, and blood services, to Israel’s over 8 million people. MDA is the only organization mandated by the Israeli government to serve in this role, but it’s not funded by the government. Instead, MDA relies on funding from donors around the world.
