Nearly 500 participants joined in the Purim re-enactment and parade through the streets of University City on Sunday, March 24.

Costumed characters marched alongside the characters in the Purim story during the annual event. In the spirit of the holiday, Haman (actually Eldad Bialecki) pitched in to help Mordecai (Mickey Ariel) disembark from the top of a pickup truck when the king’s horse belatedly arrived.

Danielle Bialecki, Eldad’s wife, said that despite his evil appearance, her husband is a very sweet man.

She did allow that when he finished putting on his make-up and wardrobe, the Bialecki family dog took one look at Haman and ran away from him.
