You still have time to give someone a “Hanukkah Hug”
Published November 30, 2022
The countdown is on. Time is running out. The clock is ticking. (Insert your own cliche here), but basically you still have time to donate new toys, books, gift cards and other fun items for this year’s Hanukkah Hugs” program.
Every year, more than 600 donations for kids, ranging in age from babies through 18-plus, are given to families not able to purchase Hanukkah presents because of their financial situation. Thursday, Dec. 1 will be the last day to donate a gift or a gift card and drop it off at the Jewish Federation of St. Louis, 12 Millstone Campus Drive.
Several local Jewish organizations partner with the Hanukkah Hugs program, which is coordinated by Women’s Philanthropy, part of the Federation, and Jewish Family Services.
“Since Hanukkah Hugs is so close, we currently only have two options for anyone who wants to donate,” said Jennifer Baer, director of family engagement at the Federation. “Drop off gifts, preferably for older kids, or drop off any denomination of gift card. Both of those options are to be brought to the Federation by Thursday.”
