Leslie Brockman Smith, daughter of Thomas and Shelley Smith of St. Louis and Ron Gubitz, son of Jeffrey and Charlene Gubitz of Knoxville, Tenn. have announced their engagement.

She is the granddaughter of Everett and the late Bertha Smith of St. Louis and the late Sam and Tama Brockman of St. Louis. He is the grandson of Betty and the late Charles Gubitz of Munster, Ind. and Morris and Caroline Schwartz of Indianapolis.

The bride-to-be is a graduate of Ladue Horton Watkins High School and Indiana University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in studio art and psychology. She attends Webster University, pursuing her MAT in special education. She is currently a special education teacher for the St. Louis Public Schools. Her fianc é is a graduate of South Side High School in Fort Wayne, Ind. and Indiana University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in English. He also received his MAT in secondary English from Lindenwood University. He is currently the Managing Director of Programs for Teach For America in St. Louis.

A May, 2010 wedding is planned.

SANDWEISS-BRENNER ENGAGEMENT

Lauren Michelle Sandweiss, daughter of Jan Sandweiss and Bruce Sandweiss of Chesterfield, and Jeremy Michael Brenner, son of Scott and Cheryl Brenner of Ellisville, have announced their engagement.

She is the granddaughter of Eleanor Glick and Jerry and Diane Glick and Phyllis and Marvin Sandweiss, all of St. Louis. He is the grandson of Sidney and Toby Brenner of St. Louis and Kathryn and the late Harvey Schroeter of Troy, Ill.

The bride-to-be is a graduate of Parkway Central High School, the University of Texas-Austin, where she earned her B.A. in government and French and Mizzou Law School, where she earned her J.D. degree. She is currently an attorney in Columbia, Mo.

Her fianc é is a graduate of Marquette High School and Washington University, where he earned his B.S. degree in business administration. He is currently a second-year law student at Mizzou Law School and a summer associate at Armstrong Teasdale LLP in St. Louis.

An August, 2010 wedding is planned.

LAZAROFF BAT MITZVAH

Jessica Grace Lazaroff, daughter of Jane Fedder Brotherton and Lee Brotherton and Dennis and Nancy Lazaroff will celebrate her bat mitzvah on March 13, 2010 at Congregation Temple Israel.

She is the sister of Emily Lazaroff and Claire Lazaroff and step-sister of Ben Brotherton. Grandparents are Ruth Fedder of Clayton and Anita Lazaroff of Creve Coeur. Jessica is a seventh grade student at Ladue Middle School and enjoys soccer, basketball, cycling and reading.
