GOLDBERGS CELEBRATE 66 YEARS
Ruth and Norman Goldberg, married on Dec. 29, 1940, celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on New Year’s Day at the Gatesworth with family and close friends. The Goldbergs met in confirmation class at B’nai El Congregation, were married there by Rabbi Julian Miller, and have remained active since. The Goldbergs received the first “Ner Tamid Award” presented by the congregation for their dedication and contributions for more than 60 years. Both became teachers and Ruth was principal of the religious school, sisterhood president twice, and on the national sisterhood board. Norman served on the board of B’nai El, as president of the congregation, and remains an active member of the congregation’s board.
LEVINSON-BAUER
Sarah Levinson, daughter of Marla and Bruce Levinson of Sullivan, Mo., and Steve Bauer, son of Cathy and Roger Bauer of West Lafayette, Ind., were married Aug. 12, 2006, at the Ritz-Carlton in St. Louis. Rabbi Howard Kaplansky and Cantor Ron Eichaker officiated the ceremony.
She is the granddaughter of Elsie Schukar Nornberg and the late Alex Schukar and Sylvia Rubenstein Levinson and the late David Levinson. He is the grandson of Edith Bauer and the late Phillip Bauer, the late Betty Bauer, Agnes Scholl and the late Howard Scholl.
Honor attendants were Stacy Wolff and Michael Bauer. Other members of the wedding party were Rachel Bauer, Jennifer Cisternino, Laurie Cohen, Sara Deutsch, Andrea Levinson, Lauren Levinson, Sara Morris, Andrea Wasserman, Robin Wolfsberger, Mark Bauer, Brian Beck, David Chiscon, Kevin Deutsch, Jeff Hytoff, Alex Levinson, William Levinson, Jason Lew and Aaron Stine.
Eleanor Levinson was the flower girl. The ring bearers were Nathan Levinson, Isaac Levinson and Adam Levinson. The bride graduated from Sullivan High School and Indiana University and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the Illinois Institute of Technology.
A graduate of West Lafayette High School and Indiana University, the groom is a vice-president at Edelman, a global public relations firm.
The couple is living in Chicago.
MCNOWN-COHEN
Katie Ann McNown, daughter of Jackie and Jerry Biele of Jefferson City, Mo., and Mike and Penny McNown of Wentzville, and Andrew Joseph Cohen, son of Robert and Kay Cohen of Creve Coeur, have announced their engagement.
She is the granddaughter of Helen Fischer of Camdenton, Mo., and Thelma McNown of St. Charles.
He is the grandson of the late Carolyn and Joseph Kutten and the late Lillian Cohen Goldfarb, all of St. Louis. The bride-to-be is a graduate of Jefferson City High School and Central Missouri State University, where she earned a B.A. degree in elementary education. She is currently earning a master’s degree in education while teaching at Ridge Meadows Elementary School in the Rockwood School District.
Her fianc é is a graduate of Parkway North High School and the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Fla., where he earned a B.A. degree in psychology.
He is currently a commercial Realtor at Rothschild Realty, Inc.
A March 2007 wedding is planned.
