Pokres-Maybruck

Jill Ellen Pokres, daughter of Ilene and Sheldon Pokres of Chesterfield, Mo., and Brian Todd Maybruck, son of Judith and Gerald Maybruck of Columbus, Ohio, have announced their engagement. She is the granddaughter of Martin and Mollie Pokres and the late Abe Sokolik and the late Rose Sokolik. He is the grandson of the late William and Miriam Schimmelman and the late David and Elsie Maybruck. The bride-to-be is a graduate of the University of Missouri-St. Louis where she earned a B.S. in early childhood education. She is currently a kindergarten teacher at Science and Arts Academy in Des Plaines, Ill. Her fiance is a graduate of Ohio State University. He has a Ph.D. degree in biology. Vermonts celebrate 50 years

George and Dolores Vermont are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married June 21, 1958 at Mount Eden Center, New York City. George was Dolores’ high school prom date. The couple will celebrate with a trip to California and Hawaii accompanied by their children and grandchildren.
