Hope Spencer of Bloomington, Ill., daughter of Pamela Telsrow of Davenport, Iowa and Otis Spencer of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Randall Motchan of Bloomington, Ill., son of Dennis and Nancy Motchan of Chesterfield, have announced their engagement.

She is the granddaughter of Mary and Jody Dokes of St. Louis. He is the grandson of the late Blanche and Sam Shulman, the late Radine and Harold Motchan and Ida Motchan, all of St. Louis.

The bride-to-be earned her bachelor’s degree in sociology from Western Illinois University. Her fiancé earned his bachelor’s degree in math and computer science from Rose Hulman University. He is currently an actuary at State Farm Insurance.

An October, 2013 wedding is planned in Bloomington, Ill.
