Ruth Singer, daughter of Miriam Rogers Singer and Stephen Singer of St. Louis, and Ari Zolin, son of Ronnie and Elliot Zolin of Roslyn Heights, N.Y., have announced their engagement.
The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Norma and the late Morton Singer of St. Louis, and the late Ruth and Alfred Rogers of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Her fiancé is the grandson of the late May and Abe Millman from Westbury, N.Y., and the late Ruth and Harry Zolin from Queens, N.Y.
Ruth earned a bachelor of arts degree from Tufts University and is currently working on a Ph.D. in biomedical science from Columbia University in New York. Ari earned a bachelor of arts degree from Columbia University, and is currently working on an M.D. from Cornell University as well as a Ph.D. from Rockefeller University.
The couple met through a mutual friend who went to college with the bride-to-be and grew up going to camp with Ari. He proposed during a walk in Central Park at the Belvedere Castle, Ruth’s favorite spot. Ari had arranged for Ruth’s whole family to come to New York from out of town to attend a surprise party after the proposal. Family and close friends helped the couple celebrate at one of their favorite neighborhood spots.
A November wedding is planned at the Four Seasons in St. Louis.
