Rebeccah Leah Singer, daughter of Steve and Miriam Rogers Singer of St. Louis, and Lior David Shragg, son of Hazzan Art and Judy Shragg of Minneapolis, have announced their engagement.
Rebeccah is the granddaughter of the late Morton and Norma Singer of St. Louis, and the late Alfred and Ruth Rogers of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Lior is the grandson of Mortimer and Evelyn Metchik of Long Island, N.Y., and the late William and Marcie Shragg of Minneapolis.
The bride-to-be earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in acting from Syracuse University. She works in the education department of a non-profit children’s theater and is a comedian in Chicago. Her fiancé earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Winona State University, a Master of Music degree from the University of Arizona, and he is currently a Ph.D. candidate at Ohio University in ethnomusicology.
Rebeccah and Lior met as staff members at Camp Ramah Wisconsin. Their first date was deep-dish pizza and froyo before walking along Navy Pier to watch the fireworks.
Last summer Lior surprised Rebeccah with a trip back to Camp Ramah ending in a lakefront proposal.
“It was absolutely perfect,” Rebeccah said, “and the work he went through to make it special and keep it secret will always impress me.”
An October 2018 wedding is planned.
