SHATZ-WILDERMAN ENGAGEMENT

Aurielle Carr Shatz, daughter of Dr. Gerald S. Shatz and Crista Carr Shatz of St. Louis, and Dr. Michael Jeffrey Wilderman, son of Dr. Barry and Elaine Wilderman of Voorhees, N.J. have announced their engagement.

She is the granddaughter of Audrey B. Shatz and the late Dr. Burton A. Shatz of Ladue and Trudy S. Carr of St. Louis and the late Hon. Robert L. Carr. The bride-to-be, who currently resides in New York City, attended Washington University, receiving her B.A. in psychology, art history and archaeology. She will receive her master’s in 2012 in non-profit management. She is active with several charitable organization and funds in St. Louis and the New York area while she completes her master’s degree.

Her fiancé, originally from Philadelphia, graduated the University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in 1997, his M.D. in 2001, and received his degree in surgery in 2007. He completed a fellowship in vascular surgery at Washington University/Barnes-Jewish Hospital in 2009. He is in private practice and on the Department of Surgery at Hackensack University Medical Center.

The couple met in 2007 during Michael’s fellowship at Washington University and dated in 2009 although both knew Aurielle had planned to stay in St. Louis, while Michael was already set to move for work that summer.

So, the couple dated until the last minute, parted on the best of terms, agreeing to move forward, declaring that “life is long” and anything can happen.

After 18 months apart, they rekindled their romance in 2010, and following countless visits between two cities, Aurielle moved to New York in 2011, where they now live.

An April, 2012 wedding in St. Louis is planned.
