Rebecca Rubin-Schlansky, daughter of Carol Rubin and Dr. Howard Schlansky of St. Louis and Mike Vredenburgh, son of Caren and the late Jim Vredenburgh of St. Louis joyously announce their recent engagement.

She is the granddaughter of the late Rabbi Alvan Rubin and Ruth Ann Rubin, and Siril Schlansky and the late Dr. Seymour Schlansky, all of St. Louis. He is the grandson of Carmela and the late Edward Vredenburgh, and Herbert Barth and the late Jean Barth of Sarasota, Fla.

The bride-to-be is a graduate of Clayton High School, and she earned her bachelor of arts degree from Barnard College-Columbia University. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in history at the University of California-Irvine. Her fiancé is a graduate of Ladue Horton Watkins High School, and he completed his bachelor of science degree in business from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C. He currently works in compliance with Northwestern Mutual in St. Louis.

A September, 2013 wedding is planned, after which they will reside in St. Louis.
